Create, apply, and update resources

create requires absence, update requires an existing resource, and apply chooses create or update while preserving already-matching resources.

Which mutation command fits?

xcsh create -f manifest.yaml --dry-run client --result-file create-preview.json
xcsh update -f manifest.yaml --dry-run client --result-file update-preview.json
xcsh apply -f manifest.yaml --dry-run client --result-file apply-preview.json

Review the preview, then repeat the same command without --dry-run client. Keep --result-file so automation can inspect the aggregate operation record.

How do I verify the mutation?

Section titled “How do I verify the mutation?”

Run xcsh get <KIND> <NAME> -n <NAMESPACE> and compare the returned identity and relevant fields with the manifest. Do not treat process exit alone as state verification.
